Welcome

Who We Are

We appreciate your interest in Elm Street Baptist Church!

We are a Reformed Baptist church, which means we hold dear the distinctive historical roots and theological beliefs commonly referred to as the “Reformed” faith. These include such great biblical truths as sola fide (justification by faith alone), sola gratia (salvation by God’s grace alone), sola scriptura (the Bible alone is the basis for faith and practice), sola Christo (salvation through Christ alone), and soli Deo gloria (the fact that God alone is to receive glory in the salvation of sinners), which are all noted hallmarks of the Protestant and Reformed faith. We are committed to glorifying God by exalting our Savior Jesus Christ, evangelizing sinners and edifying (building up) the saints in Christ.

Our Purpose

At Elm Street Baptist Church, our purpose is to glorify God by:

1) preaching the whole counsel of God as laid out for us in both the Old and New Testaments;
2) nurturing God’s people through instruction, fellowship and pastoral care;
3) gathering for corporate worship as the Scriptures instruct us;
4) proclaiming free grace in Christ to all men; and
5) functioning under Christ our Head as a local assembly of believers.

The intent of all of our organized activities is to promote the simplicity of congregational life around the example given us in the New Testament, in which “they continued steadfastly in the Apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

Our desire as a body of believers is to strengthen Christians in their walk and to present Jesus Christ to those outside of Christ. In order to provide a Christian witness of the saving power of Jesus Christ in the Sweet Home area, we offer to individuals the opportunity to assemble for worship, Bible study and Christian fellowship.

We assist  families in their responsibility “to train our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord,” by instruction from
The Shorter Catechism: A Baptist Version, and Keach’s Catechism, both of which are based on the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

Scripture

We love the Scriptures! The preaching of the Word of God is a primary focus of our worship services.

The teaching and preaching ministry at Elm Street  is primarily expository, i.e. the systematic exposition of books or sections of the Bible.  It’s our belief and experience that this approach allows us to obey our Lord’s command to “feed my sheep” and to preach “the whole counsel of God.”

Visit Us

You are warmly welcomed at Elm Street Baptist Church. We are thankful and delighted when God sends us visitors.
Our worship services focus on our Savior Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible. We worship God through singing of Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19), prayer and reading of Scripture. While all of these are essential parts of worship, our main focus is the preaching of the Word of God. You will quickly see a direct tie between our singing, praying and reading of Scripture, all leading to the message from God’s word.
We meet again for worship Sunday evening as we seek to continue to honor the Lord on His day, the New Testament Sabbath, the Lord’s Day.
We strive to do these things decently and in order and believe the acceptable way of worshiping the true God is instituted by him, and so limited by what He has told us in His own revealed will in the Holy Scriptures. By God’s amazing grace in our lives, we have been blessed to be able to gather as a local church and we would love for you to join us.
